Umarali Rakhmonaliev scored a winning penalty as hosts Uzbekistan beat Iraq 1-0 to lift the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup title here on Saturday.
The home team broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Abbosbek Fayzullaev was tripped down in the box, and Rakhmonaliev converted the penalty with composure, earning Uzbekistan their first-ever title in the tournament.
According to the regulations, the top four teams of the tournament, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Japan and South Korea, qualify for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.
