Oman Airports is set to host Aerohack on Tuesday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, marking the first event of its kind in the sultanate.
Powered by AWJ Innovation and .Nxt Ventures, Aerohack aims to foster innovation in aviation and aerospace by bringing together problem solvers, entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists, technology developers and designers.
With trends in aviation rapidly evolving, there’s growing need for inventive solutions in airport operations. Oman Airports is committed to establishing itself as a leader in innovation, both regionally and globally, in anticipation of swift changes in user behaviour, environmental concerns and technological advancements.
Deadline for registration to participate closed on August 31. On September 3, submitted ideas were assessed and the top 50 most creative ones were chosen. The next phase, which started on September 24, involved shortlisting the top 15 ideas. Teams underwent intensive workshops from September 26 to 28 to refine their proposals.
The 15 finalists will engage in an immersive two-day workshop experience starting on Tuesday, guided by industry specialists, culminating in their final presentations to a jury on Wednesday.
The event will draw to a close on Wednesday under the auspices of H E Said bin Hamood bin Said al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. The three most promising ideas will be chosen for top honors.
Oman Airports will oversee the incubation of these winning concepts through a specialised lab designed to nurture emerging projects.
The goal of Aerohack is to stimulate innovation in transportation and to explore fresh avenues for collaborative partnerships with creative thinkers in this field.
Oman Airports is taking the lead in reimagining the future of aviation, aiming to revolutionise aspects like passenger experience, sustainability, security and cost-efficiency in airport operations.
